Harper is from our 2019 Juno x Seymour litter

Harper’s size is on the upper end from what we usually have at Tamdhu. She runs 58-62 lb in field condition. She is very athletic, covering ground quickly and works at a moderate range in cover. Her range expands nicely in open terrain. She a natural retriever and absolutely loves to swim and retrieve from water. She has an outstanding nose and can be trusted to produce birds with few unproductive points. She’s been known to put on a pointing dog clinic when hunted with retrievers and has never been beat to a fallen bird, at least that’s how I remember it. Biddable, easy to train, and a sweet disposition are also strong traits of Harper. Her other unique trait is a short straight coat, it’s probably what holds her back a bit in the ring but makes her easy to care for afield.

Puppies from the litter that produced Harper sold out quickly. This was an excellent breeding using dogs with strong drive, style and great temperaments. Harper is from our first Juno litter mated to a fine stud dog named Seymour. Together, in Harper they deliver a unique outcross from the US, Australia and recent European bloodlines with proven field performance and conformation pedigrees.

  •  Juno – CH Tamdhu Miliko Celtic Tempest, has maternal lineage back to our first Gordon in 1992. She has demonstrated a keen hunting instinct, natural strong pointing instincts, good drive and is biddable. We were shooting ruffed grouse over solid points at 9 months of age. She retrieves game birds, including woodcock and jumbo wild pheasants to hand, naturally. She loves water and will swim and retrieve bumpers or game happily. You’ll observe Juno’s pedigree backs into our traditional lines from the US on the dam’s side, and to Australian lines on the sires side. Juno is modest sized at 48 pounds at the time of breeding.
  • Seymour – CH Munroc The Black Watch SH is also moderately sized, medium bone, and has temperament and biddability true to his European lineage. He handles nicely for his owner at Munroc Farm. Seymour is working on his Grand Championship and is near to completing his Amateur Field Champion title. His UK and European bloodlines contribute genetic diversity and valued characteristics for health, longevity, beautiful heads, heavy bones, rich colors, and outgoing dispositions. Link to Amscot Gordon Setters for more about Seymour’s heritage. Seymour weighs in right around 70 pounds in field condition. We are fortunate to be able to access Seymour and thank Rhonda for making it possible. Seymour’s photos on this site are credited to Rhonda.
