Gordon Setter Puppies for Sale

We occasionally offer Gordon Setter Puppies for sale. As a small but dedicated breeder of family raised Gordon Setters based in Wisconsin, we breed generally every two or three years. This year we have two litters underway. The first litter arrived 5/23, the 2nd litter June 4, 2024. Both litters are currently sold-out and off to their forever homes. Each litter is featured on this page.

These litters align with our commitment to produce quality, balanced Gordon Setters representative of the breed and our objectives. Our “About Tamdhu ” page provides a bit more about Tamdhu Gordon Setters and focuses on the BBB’s of Gordon Setters; Beauty, Brains and Birdsense. There we go into the type of Gordon Setters we produce, our performance expectations and a bit about the breed in general. Many breeders focus on just one or maybe two of these B’s. Tamdhu strives for exceptional balance and attention to BBB in one package.

Dylan is a Tamdhu dog, nicely built, biddable dog from our Erin and co-owned with a gentlemen in central Wisconsin as a personal companion and gun dog. He was a sharp looking puppy from the get-go and Connie quickly and easily put a bench title on him. Dylan has seen limited actual field use in more recent years. Chris worked with him and his owner early on and confirmed Dylan is a gun dog thru and thru, true to Tamdhu heritage. We retain co-ownership in Dylan for our personal use. He has produced a couple of super nice litters within our network of Gordon friends. Great personality, sound conformation, health, and a willingness to please are Dylan’s traits carrying forward into these puppies.

About our litters

  • Tamdhu Gordon Setters hunt true to their heritage and are bred for health and temperament.
  • Puppies are AKC limited registered, OFA hips cleared, eyes cleared, dew claws removed, microchipped, 1st round of vaccinations, wormed and vet checked. If you have aspirations of breeding, we will consider co-ownership opportunities with the right puppy and partner.
  • We provide a health guarantee and ask buyers to sign a contract to align commitments for each of us. We expect buyers to remain loyal and provide top shelf care for Tamdhu puppies. If your situation changes down the road, we are here to assist you and your Tamdhu dog.
  • We believe in providing proactive science based early development techniques and robust socialization for our puppies. We use the BioSensor early neurological development program. Link to information on the Resources page.
  • We breed infrequently, with objectives to preserve and improve hunting drive, stamina, style, trainability, conformation, temperament, and health. We strive to select from the best available dogs in the breed.
  • We are active members of the Gordon Setter Club of America. For nearly 30 years, we’ve donated our time and financial resources to support Gordon Setter Rescue, Field Trials, Hunt Tests, Specialty Shows, Supported Entries, and field training days.
  • We expect our Gordons to be great companions. Temperament is very important to us. These puppies will be excellent pets but you must provide a rich, varied environment for them to develop fully sound temperaments. This is particularly important in that first “golden year” of the puppies life when their emotional needs, development and adaptability are greatest. Gordon Setters can be comfortable in busy households. Early exposure to a broad range of experiences are critical.
  • If you are looking primarily for a pet please understand every dog needs a job. Something more than just laying around the house 24/7. Recognize these are sporting dogs and need physical exercise and a highly engaging environment to thrive. Consider becoming active in some facet of field work; hunting, obedience, agility or other activity to enrich your relationship with your Gordon Setter.
  • Our puppies have found homes in most corners of the US. We can help arrange transfer of your puppy at the appropriate time but it’s usually best if you drive or fly to pickup your dog. The airlines are not very accommodating transporting unattended pets.
  • Annually there are just a couple dozen litters of Gordon Setters registered with AKC. As a result, in 2023 the breed ranked 99th in registrations with AKC. AKC has identified Gordon Setters as a breed at risk of further decline in numbers. There is of course a greater pool of unregistered Gordon’s out there. Quality is variable so be careful!
  • If you simply must have a Gordon Setter today and can’t wait for a Tamdhu puppy then we wish you luck in your search. Check references. Ask the breeder what they’ve done for/with the breed and breed organizations besides breed and sell puppies. Ask if they stay connected to the dog for life. Ask if any of their sold dogs ended up in rescue organizations or shelters? Responsible breeders are the first line of communication with you for the life of your dog.
  • If you need quality references, ask us and we may be able to provide a referral to an appropriate breeder for the style of Gordon Setter you seek.
  • Being a hunter or bench person is not a requirement for owning a Gordon Setter from Tamdhu. Being a great pet owner is.
